Where do the Chicago Bulls go from here with the 2019 calendar year soon to be wrapping up and playoff contention nowhere in sight?

While the Chicago Bulls are off to a better start than they were last season, there’s not much to be positive about 30 games in. The Bulls own a record of 11-19 through their first 30 games of the 2019-20 regular season. That’s nothing to write home about as the Bulls had to be expecting to be in firm playoff contention for a lower seed in the Easter Conference nearing Christmas Day.

However, the extent of this failure for the Bulls does go beyond just this season. The entire calendar year was rough on this fan base, and the sadness might continue in the Windy City as long as John Paxson and Gar Forman are manning the front office and head coach Jim Boylen sits at the helm.

The Bulls rounded out the 2018-19 regular season with a record of 22-60. With a poor record last season, what seemed like a good offseason for the Bulls brought optimism entering this season. But the hope has died down since. Seemingly positive Bulls offseason signings like forward Thaddeus Young, guard Tomas Satoransky, and center Luke Kornet haven’t been great yet.

And even the Bulls first round draft pick, former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard Coby White, hasn’t showed any consistent promise yet. But take White’s progress with a grain of salt since we knew he was going to take more patience as a project point guard.

Moreover, as we move into the new year, hopefully change is on the horizon. Whether that be in the front office, coaching staff, or both, something has to give.

Let’s take a look into three reasons why the 2019 calendar year was a failure for the Chicago Bulls.
