Chicago Bulls: Player grades from the heartbreaking OT loss in Miami - Pippen Ain't Easy

The Chicago Bulls lost in heartbreaking fashion tonight in Miami. Here are player grades from the overtime loss against Jimmy Butler and Co.

There are losses, and then there are devastating losses. Tonight’s loss was a devastating one for the Chicago Bulls. They were in control of the game in the fourth quarter until rookie Tyler Herro went unconscious from behind the 3-point line.

Chicago had a chance to win the game in overtime but late missed threes from Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen would wind up sealing their fate.

Here are player grades from the tough loss.

Lauri Markkanen was really good tonight. He knocked down threes, got to the rim and was aggressive on the glass. He finished the game with 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field and 4-of-10 shooting from three. He also had a filthy putback jam.

I’ve called out Thaddeus Young’s play a decent amount this season, but he was solid tonight. He scored 12 points on an efficient 5-of-10 shooting from the field. He had a positive impact on the game, and that’s ultimately all the Bulls need him to do.
Zach LaVine had a rough night. He scored 18 points on a brutal 5-of-19 shooting from the field and 1-of-8 shooting from 3-point territory. He also committed seven turnovers. Sometimes, you just don’t have it. When he’s having nights like this in the future, he needs to put his head down and attack the basket, not settle for jumper after jumper.
Tomas Satoransky did some good things in his limited time on the floor. He did a really nice job of getting in the paint and either putting up a good shot or creating one for a teammate. Tyler Herro simply couldn’t guard him. I’m still struggling to figure out why Sato only played 23 minutes.
Coby White got a hefty workload tonight. He played 32 minutes and had the ball in his hands a lot. He didn’t shoot the ball particularly well (3-of-9 from the field), but he did connect on some timely shots. It would be great if the Bulls could get him some easier looks around the rim. Right now, he’s taking a lot of tough jumpers.
Wendell Carter Jr. put up a big rebound total and worked hard on defense, but he wasn’t nearly aggressive enough on the offensive end of the court. He finished the game with seven points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field to go along with his 10 boards. The Bulls simply need him to shoot more.
Denzel Valentine continued his run of nice games tonight in Miami. He scored 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field in 14 minutes. Can someone explain to me why he isn’t playing more?
Kris Dunn was the Bulls’ best player tonight. He was savvy on offense and menacing on defense, finishing the game with 16 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting from the field to go along with five rebounds, two assists, three steals and only one turnover. He’s slowly becoming one of my favorite players again. I love how he’s constantly in the jersey of whoever he’s guarding.

The Bulls don’t have much time to think about this loss. They play the Raptors tomorrow night in Chicago.
