Women's March, Screen Actors Guild Awards and NFL Conference Championship games: 5 things to know this weekend - USA TODAY

Dwindling Women's March to protest Trump for fourth year

The 2016 election of Donald Trump as president so outraged large groups of women, they protested against him in record numbers the day after his inauguration. Estimates of the crowd in Washington on Jan. 21, 2017, were a staggering 500,000 to 1 million. Since then, participation in the Women's March has fallen each year — so much so that Saturday's protest is not expected to draw more than 10,000. But organizers say Trump's decision to have U.S. forces strike and kill Iranian military leader Gen. Qasem Soleimani should jumpstart participation. And the Women's March has streamlined its agenda, whittling last year's 10-point platform down to three themes: reproductive rights, immigration and climate change.

Winter storm spreads across the country

A sprawling winter storm is expected to create hazardous travel conditions from the Plains into northeastern U.S. through the weekend, forecasters warn. By Saturday, moderate to heavy snow is expected in portions of Pennsylvania, New York and much of New England. A foot of snow or more could pile up in parts of the central Appalachians and New England. On Friday, forecasters posted a blizzard warning for parts of the Upper Midwest as the storm began to gather steam, and a plane slid off a taxiway at Kansas City International Airport due to icy conditions.

SpaceX launch test could be huge milestone for astronauts

SpaceX is taking to the skies in a major trial run. The company is set to test the ability of the Crew Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket to abort while in flight. Launch for the unmanned flight, delayed Saturday due to sustained winds and rough seas, will be rescheduled for Sunday, SpaceX confirmed on Twitter.  This is the last test milestone before a crewed flight, so if it is successful, a return of astronauts launching from Kennedy Space Center may be only months away.
