River Oaks District was buzzing with shoppers and trendsetters for the third annual Fashion X Houston.
Despite the hot, muggy air, Houston fashion lovers turned out in style — calm, cool and collected. Fashion X Houston is a three-day celebration of shopping, fashion and charity, founded and emceed by Austin’s Matt Swinney.
Thursday, the event featured an assortment of fashions from the district’s luxury retailers and spotlighted philanthropist Vivian Wise. On Friday, the evening celebrated local designers Chloe Dao, David Peck and ModChic with their new runway collections. KPRC-TV’s Dominique Sachse and Gayla Gardner walked the catwalk for Dao’s collection. Donae Chramosta was honored for her charity work with CrimeStoppers Houston.
On Saturday, models wore a variety of designs, from Bentley + Lace, which features children’s evening wear, to Pakistani designer Rana Noman’s oppulent fashions. Abiferrin’s cashmere tops and breezy eveningwear were a hit with the crowd. The night paid tribute to Alicia Smith, wearing signature cobalt blue Akris, for her support of SBP, a nonprofit disaster-relief organization named for St. Bernard Parish. Smith hosted a preparty at Akris.
Many of the luxury retailers threw parties for the partygoers before and after the fashion show. Baanou hosted a trunk show for Amberleaf, while Planet Blue offered henna tattoos and the Nars team had a pop-up braiding bar. Champagne flowed freely. A poker game broke out. Toulouse Cafe and Bar has never been so packed.
Houston-based Edward Sanchez and his Arched Beauty Architects worked backstage creating the models’ runway makeup looks.
