With their loss to Indiana Pacers, their sixth in a row, the Chicago Bulls now have a record of 13-26. The losing streak has came against a stretch of teams with an over .500 record and the Bulls have looked overmatched in a lot of these games.
The loss to the Pacers has them 12th in the Eastern Conference standings with the Washington Wizards leaping over them with their win over the Hawks. But there still is a chance for the Bulls to get back into the playoff hunt as they are only five games behind the Brooklyn Nets for the eighth seed. All the teams in the ninth through 12th spots are all bunched together. If the Bulls can string together some victories, there is a chance they could be sitting right back in the 9th seed. However on the flip side, it seems like it’s almost time to start praying for some lottery luck. According to Tankathon.com, the Bulls are five games out of Atlanta’s spot for the worst record in the league. Chicago currently has a 42.1 percent chance of landing in the top four of the draft and 10.1 percent chance to get the number one overall pick. The Bulls are truly in the middle. But tonight represents a chance for them to make some ground record wise.
Chicago will be traveling to face off against the Detroit Pistons who are only one game above them in the East standings. Sitting at 14-25 overall, the Pistons are going through a bit of a slump having lost five of their last seven games. They recently split a back to back with the Cleveland Cavaliers with the road team winning both games. Thanks to a career high 35 points from Tristan Thompson, the Cavaliers were able to knock off the Pistons in overtime. They did this despite the 28 points from Andre Drummond and 27 from Derrick Rose.
Detroit is in a similar situation to Chicago where they are still in the playoff hunt but also could be looking ahead towards the future. Blake Griffin has been ruled out for the season with a knee injury and with trade rumors swirling around Andre Drummond, the Pistons could look like an entirely different team a month from now.
Injury Report: For the Bulls, Wendell Carter Jr. remains out with an ankle injury while Chandler Hutchison, Lauri Markkanen, and Ryan Arcidiacono are all probable. While for Detroit they will be missing Reggie Jackson (back) and Luke Kennard (knee) while Markieff Morris is questionable with a left foot sprain.
Game Time: 6PM CT
TV: NBC Sports Chicago
Betting Odds: The Pistons opened as a 3.5 point favorite but it’s since moved up to -4. As for the over/under, it’s set at 216 (via the Action Network).
