Jersey, Europe has long had the reputation as being a world-class leading International Finance Centre.
It is the largest of the British Channel Islands and is located 135km south of mainland Britain and 22km from the coast of France. It has a unique constitutional position enabling Jersey to deliver the ideal business conditions for international finance.
Jersey has an allegiance to the British Crown, and yet it has its own democratically elected parliament, which is responsible for all domestic affairs including fiscal matters.
It is often referred to as “the richest offshore tax shelter of them all”. Scottish fashion doyenne, Dr Tessa Hartmann CBE, plans to change the world view of Jersey, by taking it back to its roots.
One the most precious fashion fabrics “Jersey” was inspired by the island. And was launched onto the international fashion scene by Coco Chanel.
Madam Chanel was the first designer to use what was essentially a “sailor’s fabric”, in her collections during the war. It was cheaper and extremely versatile and in turn became a big hit. The House of Chanel went on to create a fragrance named Jersey, as a nod to the heritage of the fabric.
Who is Dr Tessa Hartmann CBE?
A rainmaker, a co-conspirator of innovative ideas and brand strategy. Award winning publicist, adviser to former Prime Minister, David Cameron’s cabinet during the Scottish referendum. Mother of 4, and co-founder of Hartmann Media & Hartmann House, with her husband Sascha.
