Model Edie Campbell has revealed that she was told by an unnamed fashion brand that she was "too big" to open it's Milan Fashion Week show.
Yesterday, the 28-year-old - who closed the Alberta Ferretti show on Thursday - took to Instagram to call out the fashion industry.
In response to the controversial comments, the model shared a photograph of herself and friend Christabel MacGreevy enjoying a "slap up brekkie" in their hotel room via Instagram Stories.
"And by 'too big' I don’t mean 'too famous', I mean too fat," Campbell confirmed.
The jockey-turned-model was first scouted aged 15 by photographer Mario Testino and has since gone on to work for the likes of Chanel, Burberry and Alexander McQueen.
According to her modelling agency, Campbell wears a UK dress size 8-10.
But it's not the first time the model has taken aim at the fashion industry.
Back in 2017, Campbell published an open letter on WWD criticising the treatment of models.
"There needs to be boundaries," she wrote. "There must be limits to the creative process, given the potential human cost."
"Fashion is great when it celebrates the people involved in the creative process, not when it destroys them. The work should not become more important than the people who are involved in it."
