The fashion world have shared outpourings of sadness after Notre-Dame in Paris was engulfed by a devastating fire. French president Emmanuel Macron has vowed to rebuild the iconic cathedral after the blaze partially destroyed the building on 15 April.
Although the Gothic main building stone structure was saved by firefighters, the spire and roof collapsed. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Figureheads from across the fashion industry posted messages of grief or condolences to the people of Paris. Burberry's Riccardo Tisci shared his "love and support to all those impacted", while Caroline de Maigret wrote "Paris is crying."
Givenchy creative director Clare Waight Keller, Harper's Bazaar global fashion director Caroline Roitfeld and musician and muse Lou Doillon were also among those to pay tribute.
In the beauty arena, both Sam McKnight and Peter Philips shared their sadness at the news. "My heart goes out to all of Paris tonight," said McKnight. "I hope no one was hurt in this devastating fire at Notre Dame."
Philips said simply, "This is devastating!"
LVMH chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault has pledged €200 million to help with the restoration of the building, while Kering's François Pinault will donate €100 million.
